“TL;DR; – Just hire them. That’s the correct move.
These guys were not my first choice…but only because I didn’t know about them.
My first choice had done work for me once before that was price competitive and clean. However, I had people coming to prep my driveway for paving and as that deadline loomed, my first choice tree guys went radio silent. I had a bunch of trees I wanted removed before new asphalt went down – no sense in dropping trees on a brand new driveway.
Aware of my urgency and concern, a mutual contact suggested I give Brandon at Advanced Tree a call. This was on Monday. My driveway guys were coming in two days. Brandon came out that same day, looked at the job of removing 10 large eastern white pines and gave me a quote that was a bit higher than my first choice guys. He said he could do the work, but he needed to move some other jobs around. Since my first choice guys were nowhere to be found, I was over a barrel – but Brandon was willing to help me out of my jam by rescheduling his existing work to make my job possible, so I gave Brandon a downpayment, and signed a contract on the spot.
The very next morning, at 8 AM, Brandon arrived with a host of heavy equipment and two very capable and obviously experienced guys. I find that a comfort – when you’ve got trees close to a house, you want people that have been at this a while.
I asked Brandon if he could drop four more trees he hadn’t quoted the day before and just leave them on the ground where they fell. I’m handy with a saw and could clean them up, but I didn’t want to risk them falling the wrong way – they were smaller trees, but still… I had very little time to get this done. He agreed to just drop them.
Late in the afternoon, one of their critical pieces of equipment blew a hydraulic line, so Brandon left to get a replacement while his crew continued to work. I asked him if he would be able to get to the four additional trees and he said, “Maybe? But I’ve got to get your driveway cleaned up for tomorrow for sure.” He wasn’t wrong; and I had thrown the four additional at him same day so if it wasn’t to be, I really couldn’t fault him.
By the time he got back with the replacement gear, it was already dark and I figured he would simply finish the 10 trees and be on his way.
I was wrong.
Not only did he finish the ten and clean them up as originally quoted, but he dropped the remaining four and got them well off the driveway so there was no urgency on my part to get them limbed and cleaned up for Wednesday.
These guys weren’t my first choice.
Now, they are my ONLY choice.
Let me sum it up:
1. They communicate well – text, phone, in-person.
2. They show up when they say they’re going to show up.
3. They bring experienced crew who work like dogs – they did a 12-hour day here yesterday.
4. They clean up after themselves.
5. They do AT LEAST exactly what they say they’re going to do – and in my case, more.
6. They have backup equipment so the job is going to get done no matter what.
7. They will accommodate you to the very best of their ability.
8. You get what you pay for. Yes, they were more expensive than my other guys, but my other guys could not – and would not – have been able to do this. Worth EVERY penny. It all got done and my driveway people are free to do what they need to do.

I got quotes from 2 other tree services and Brandon from Advanced Tree Solutions was the best, so I hired him. At 2pm on a Friday afternoon, in the midst of a severe Connecticut rainstorm, a huge tree somehow fell on to our roof at our place of business blocking our doorway and endangering all who were in the vicinity. We called Brandon. Within minutes he arrived, accurately sized up the situation and immediately set out to remove the tree. Within a short time, a huge crane and a bunch of other trucks carrying all sorts of tree removal equipment arrived. Brandon and his crew worked to remove the huge tree until late into the night. These guys did a killer job at my house. My neighbor and I [have] been [talking about] taking down about 10 trees that are too close to our houses going down our property line. Incredible company!! Called Brandon early (Sunday) afternoon when we attempted to go out grocery shopping … our driveway was completely blocked by a multi-branch GIANT downed tree! Got this wonderful young man on the way to his son’s game and he immediately turned around and came to rescue us! We had a cat stuck in a tree for almost 3 days. The cat was about 50ft up so almost impossible to get to without a bucket truck. We called fire departments, the police, animal control and multiple tree companies. No one would help. We called Brandon on Saturday morning and he was out by Saturday afternoon to give us a proposal to remove 18 old, tall, woody arborvitaes close to a 40-year-old existing fence. The guys at Advanced Tree Solutions of Connecticut were wonderful from beginning to end! Brandon came out the same day I called for a quote (within an hour), and assured me that he was confident in our difficult removal of a large white pine from our fenced back yard. Additionally, they gave us the best quote for the work, so it was a no-brainer.
We were able to schedule the work to be done within two weeks, and the removal yesterday was fantastic! Everyone arrived right on time, and got right to work setting up the crane and rigging like it was nothing – these guys really know what they’re doing. I figured with the difficult location it would take most of the day to take down the two trees, but within 4 hours of arrival, they were finished and packing up. They went above and beyond with the clean-up of the woodchips and brush, and even pulled down and removed broken branches from the tree that had gotten caught in another tree…the only indication they had even been there was that two trees are now gone.
Everyone was wonderful, and I would recommend them to anyone. I’d hire them again in a heartbeat for any future tree work we need done. Brandon had said when we were talking about the quote that they take the tough jobs nobody else wants, and he sure wasn’t kidding. He came with a machine that allowed him to cut off the tops without dropping them on our neighbor’s lawn. The team took great care in making sure that the wall was even and communicated with us through the process, especially because the trees on the sides aren’t the same height. They stayed in communication with each other through radio headsets and removed the large limbs without ever coming close to the two sheds that were in close proximity to the work area. The second maple came down because Brandon noticed a large stress fracture in a main limb and decay on the other side of the tree. It was apparent when I looked at the tree stump that there was decay which was going to cause problems down the road. The crew was very thorough with the cleanup. “Incredible job!!! Wanted to make sure I posted a review for Advanced Tree Solutions. One of these recent stormy nights, a compromised tree along the driveway split. It hung up in a tree across the driveway. Additionally the longest branches cascaded onto the barn. Certainly a disappointing mess to discover early in the morning and well beyond my skills. I called Advanced Tree Solutions around 7:45-8 that morning. Brandon answered immediately and in no time we were scheduled for 2pm that very day. It was a complex problem given the compromised tree hung up over the drive leaning on another tree with electrical wires nearby. The problem was stabilized that day and the completed project which involved hoisting the tree out of the tree without disturbing the electric cables. Marvelous job and executed as professionally as I have seen. I would like to note they cleaned the worksite up the first day despite the need to continue the second day. Both days they left the worksite spotless which was beyond the call of duty. I would recommend Brandon and his team for all your tree service needs. A fine young man with first class ethics and equipment!! Do not hesitate to call.”

“On July 24th Advanced Tree Solutions arrived to remove two trees that had fallen during a windy storm here in Oakville. Brandon and his crew were very careful to remove all debris and the trees with very minimal damage to the raspberry garden and the monarch butterfly garden that were under the largest tree, which did not crush them but was menacingly hanging over them. The crew had to bring in equipment across my lawn which caused minimal damage to it, thank goodness. They cleaned up all debris and left the area neater than it had been in a while. To complicate things, our backyard is fenced in and no machinery wider than 8 feet can get back there.
